Carbide inserts

Indexable carbide inserts for CNC and VMC work, held in ready stock and sold wholesale. Pick by the operation you are running, then by the material group you are cutting.

01By operation

What are you cutting today

Five families, with the insert designations stocked against each one.

Turning carbide insert

01Turning

Turning

Negative and positive inserts for external and internal turning on CNC lathes — roughing through to final passes, in the standard ISO shapes and clamping styles.

Insert models

  • CCMT
  • CNMG
  • DCMT
  • DNMG
  • SCMT
  • SNMG
  • TCMT / TNMG
  • VB / VC / VN
  • WNMG
Grooving / Parting carbide insert

02Grooving / Parting

Grooving / Parting

Parting blades and grooving inserts for cut-off, external and internal grooves, face grooving and circlip seats, in a range of widths and depths of cut.

Insert models

  • MGMN
  • MRMN
  • GMN
  • GTN

How they are specified

Unlike turning inserts (CNMG, DNMG, VNMG, etc.), grooving and parting inserts are generally blade-type inserts rather than standard ISO polygonal inserts. They are identified mainly by:

  • Width (e.g. 2 mm, 3 mm, 4 mm, 5 mm)
  • Geometry (neutral, left-hand, right-hand)
  • Chipbreaker style
  • Grade and coating
Milling carbide insert

03Milling

Milling

Indexable inserts for VMC and milling work — round inserts for copy and profile milling, rectangular and parallelogram inserts for face, shoulder and high-feed cutters.

Insert models

  • APKT (APMT)
  • SEKT (SEHT)
  • SPMT
  • RDMT / RPMT
  • RPKT
  • SNMX
  • ONMU
  • LNMU
  • XNMU
  • XDKT
  • WNMU
  • CCMT-style milling inserts

Common milling operations and insert types

Face millingSPMT, SEKT, SNMX, ONMU
90° shoulder millingAPKT / APMT, XDKT
High-feed millingLNMU, RDMT, RPKT
Copy / profile millingRDMT, RPMT, round inserts

Finishing carbide insert

04Finishing

Finishing

Sharp-edged, close-tolerance geometries for the last cut — light depths of cut and low feed forces, where surface finish and size control matter more than removal rate.

Insert models

  • CCMT
  • DCMT
  • VCMT
  • VBMT
  • TCMT
  • CCGT
  • DCGT
  • VCGT

Common finishing geometries

  • Positive rake inserts for lower cutting forces.
  • Sharp cutting edges to improve surface finish.
  • Small nose radius (typically 0.2 mm, 0.4 mm or 0.8 mm) for fine finishes.
  • Fine chipbreaker geometries (often designated F, MF or FF, depending on the manufacturer).
Threading carbide insert

05Threading

Threading

Full-profile and partial-profile inserts for external and internal thread generation, covering metric, ISO and common pipe and UN thread forms.

02By workpiece grade

Match the grade to the material

Colour coded to ISO 513 — the same colours printed on the insert boxes, so a shelf matches a row.

P

Steel

Carbon, alloy and tool steels. Long chipping, high cutting forces.

M

Stainless steel

Austenitic and duplex stainless. Work hardening and built-up edge.

K

Cast iron

Grey, nodular and malleable iron. Short chipping and abrasive.

N

Non-ferrous

Aluminium, copper, brass and bronze. Sharp edges, high speeds.

H

Hardened

Hardened and chilled steels, roughly 45 HRC and above.

Tell us the material, the machine and the operation and we will point you to the right grade, geometry and holder.
